Webtool HCV275i cutter chosen for Rotech Subsea latest project
Rotech Subsea, a leading subsea operations company, has selected the Webtool HCV275i, advanced cutting tool, for its newest grab-cutter system. Designed to handle cable up to 275mm diameter, the HCV275i will be the cutting element in the Rotech Subsea Grab Tool with Integrated Cutter (RSG-C), enhancing its capabilities for subsea cable cut and recovery operations.
The Webtool HCV275i builds on Rotech Subea’s experience with the Webtool HCV270 and smaller cutters. The hydraulic cutter’s integrated interlock system was a key factor in Rotech’s decision, ensuring safe operation by preventing cuts until the anvil is fully deployed. This feature is especially crucial in subsea environments where visibility is limited. By integrating the HCV275i with the RSG-C cable cutter, the seamless interface between the HCV275i and grabber will ensure efficient and safe subsea operations.
Rotech Subsea CEO Dr Donald Stewart commented, “The RSG-C is a very popular tool, allowing our clients to locate, grab, cut and recover cables up to 330 mm diameter in a single operation. Every single cut we’ve attempted to date with Webtool’s cutters has been successful, so we look forward to loving the HCV275i as much as we’ve loved its predecessors.”
“With Rotech’s selection of the HCV275i, Webtool continues to demonstrate its commitment to innovation and safety in subsea cutting tools,” said Rory McGarry, Engineering Director, Allspeeds. “We’ve continued to develop Webtool cutters in line with industry developments. The integration of our patented interlock technology with the larger Webtool cutters delivers ensured reliability and safety in the challenging subsea scenarios regularly encountered by our customers.”
All Webtool cutters are designed and manufactured exclusively by Allspeeds Ltd in the UK.
